Lisyanet Rodriguez (b. Sancti Spíritus, Cuba) has a BFA from the Higher Institute of Art (ISA) in La Habana, Cuba. Her work has been exhibited in Cuba, Florida, California, Kentucky, Portugal, England and Italy. In 2014, she was awarded an artistic residency by the Djerassi Program in Woodside CA where she held her first solo exhibition in the US titled “Brutal Light.” Lisyanet’s art exists on the premise of “simultaneously beautiful and troubling” and reflects on the concept of beauty and the ambiguities within it. She explores the concept of vulnerability by creating objects that seem tender and homely, but possibly menacing at the same time.
