Past Exhibitions

This exhibition explores the concepts of identity, nostalgia, migration, and moments of longing. Featuring images that resemble daily life scenes, illustrate personal dreams and goals, celebrate the past, and find personal markers in the spaces that we occupy, the range of artworks in the show vary from paintings and sculptures to video and installation works. Exhibiting artists include Nathalie Alfonso, Liene Bosquê, RemiJin Camping, Deryn Cowdy, Stephanie Hadad, Amanda Linares, Enido Michelini, Roberto Navarrete, Krystal Rodriguez, and Harrison Tobon.

The artworks in this exhibition observe the passing of time and the seemingly passive observation of life events in a state of invisibility, inviting to inner reflection and memory recollection. Exhibiting artists include Apia, Liene Bosquê, Amy Broderick, Dana Donaty, Gabriela Gamboa, Amy Gelb, Alex Nunez, Felisa Prieto, Jeannette Stargala, and Lisu Vega, presenting artworks in multiple formats that include video, sculpture, prints, and paintings.

Silent Narrator/Curious Spectator ran from January 26, 2023 – March 11, 2023.

This exhibition illustrates the spontaneous and complex creation of form and its relationship to function. At the intersection of art and science, the artworks in this exhibition explore the areas associated with morphogenesis such as shape generation, pattern formation, adaptation, spatial and temporal order, and dynamic systems.

Exhibiting artists include Zoe Alexa, Milena Arango, Beatriz Chachamovits, Judith Berk King, Lisa Haque, Jill Hotchkiss, and Andy Lomas, presenting artworks in multiple formats that include video, sculpture, prints and paintings.

The Frank Aisles features the solo exhibition Weedscapes, portraits of illuminated undergrowth by artist Deryn Cowdy.

The Third Space Gallery at The Frank features a solo exhibition by artist Isabel Gouveia.

Morphogenesis ran from October 27, 2022 – January 7, 2023

This exhibition celebrates the convergence of ideas and concepts, simulating the recognition of patterns and conceptual lines as a method for interpreting new meanings. The mixed media artworks in the exhibition feature images that lie at the border of the abstract and figurative, featuring blurred identities, reflections, and superimposed images. There are traces and lines that like a palimpsest remain there, as a memory that is being rewritten. Other artworks search for meaning through symbols, gestural traces, celebrating the everyday objects, finding them in unusual places and different contexts, in a connection between past and present.

Exhibiting artists include Jason Aponte, Zoraye Cyrus, Diego Gutierrez, Juan Henriquez, Jefreid Lotti, Alex Trimino, and Izel Vargas.

The Frank Aisles features a solo exhibition by artist Natalya Kochak featuring mixed-media artwork from her ‘My Family Anti-Autobiography’ series.

Solo exhibition of works that explore the paradoxes of decorative art and illusion of space in painting.

The City of Pembroke Pines and Frank C. Ortis Art Gallery present Elemental: Terra, Tide & Time, a survey of contemporary artists who explore new frontiers between visual art, environmental stewardship, sustainability and the relational duality between rural and urban environments. Between questions of weather and climate, ruin and entropy, boundary and movement, the artists in this exhibition reflect on how our environment is experienced and imagined. Acting as both researcher and renegade, each artist presents their findings through multiple forms of knowledge and practice including artistic approaches, scientific data, technological intervention and social activism. This exhibition features works by Alissa Alfonso, Sharon Berebichez, Felice Grodin, Christina Pettersson, Evelyn Politzer, Jennifer Printz, Gretchen Scharnagl, Lauren Shapiro and Lizzy Taber.

In the Third Space Gallery at The Frank, Green Space Initiative grantee recipient Alma Leiva is exhibiting her photography series Celdas. The Frank Aisles is also hosting a solo exhibition by photographer Love Soulèy.

This survey of the industrial aesthetic blurs the lines between fine art, mechanical design and fabrication and challenges traditional art making materials and techniques. These artists employ a minimalist tendency while engaging the viewer with work grounded in industrialization, gentrification, and/or the notion of change through industrial materials.

New Industry presented the work of Nestor Arenas, Yves Gabriel, Kx2, Devora Perez, Norman Silva, Layne Hinton and Chris Foster.

Organized and traveled by the National Geographic Society, Into Africa highlighted the wonders of wild Africa as seen through the lens of photographer Frans Lanting. Guests will be visually transported from the savannas of East Africa, to the jungles of the Congo Basin, to the paradise of Madagascar and into the heart of the Kalahari Desert.

May 24 – June 29, 2019: The Frank presents an exhibition by the art students of URGENT Inc., a Miami-based non-profit youth and community development organization dedicated to empowering young minds to transform their communities through visual arts, poetry, and performance.

July 6 – August 10, 2019: The Frank showcases photographic works capturing the flora and fauna of Africa by international nature photographer and researcher, Kirsten Hines.

PRISM was a multidisciplinary exploration of diversity and LGBTQIA identity through art.

PRISM presented the work of Tom Atwood, Shawn Bouffard, Steven Chayt, Christian Feneck, Laura Marsh, and Sean Mick.

February 22 - March 30, 2019: The Frank presents ‘Florida Imagined,’ paintings created at The Inspired Artist Studios @ PARC. Based in St. Petersburg, PARC’s Mission is to provide opportunities for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to exercise their independence and experience life to the fullest.

April 4 - May 4, 2019: The Frank is now collaborating with Arts4All Florida as their Visual Arts Museum partner for Broward County. This exhibition showcases works created in a multi-week Arts4All Artist in Residence Program that provides artists and therapists to work with children and teens who have disabilities in the school and DJ system.

November 15 - December 15, 2018:

The Frank will highlight the artists of Schott Communities, a South Florida non-profit organization founded in 1986 to address the needs of persons who are deaf, or physically/intellectually challenged.

January 5 to January 26, 2019:
The Frank showcases research and artworks by adult volunteers from The Fellowship Foundation, a non-profit recovery community organization serving South Florida. Sponsored by Art Affects, LLC, the research in this exhibition presents art therapy as an effective tool for individuals in their physical and emotional journeys toward healing after trauma.

Presented in partnership with the Miami Children’s Museum, Wizard of Oz™ invited guests of all ages to embark on a multi-sensory exploration of the iconic Land of Oz! The only licensed educational exhibit from Warner Brothers, guests engaged in a fun-filled journey of discovering personal strengths by using literacy, visual and performing arts, the investigation of light and science, and much more. The exhibition also featured contemporary artwork related to the film. These artworks address and reinterpret iconic Wizard of Oz™ themes and concepts, such as courage, heart and mind, fantasy and unity.

Wizard of Oz™ presented the work of Jason Aponite, Franklin Gonzalez, Gabriele Gutwirth, Aaron Miller, Brian Reedy, and Santiago Rubino.

The exhibition portrayed an evolving body of two-dimensional works that depict the natural beauty of Florida. With a focus on community engagement, artist Xavier Cortada asked Floridians to define their state by its unique flora and fauna, rather than the things we build to displace it.

Through delicate drawings, vibrant monoprints and colorful larger-than-life projections, this exhibition educated viewers of all ages on the importance of Florida’s wildlife ecosystems and encouraged environmental stewardship.

Dynamic renderings of a new framework for sustainable urban design and architecture in South Florida are presented by the ADaPT Team, comprised of partners from Florida Atlantic University, Brooks + Scarpa, University of Southern California, and University of Kansas. Displayed in our Third Space and throughout the gallery were artworks by Artists With Autism, a nonprofit group that promotes entrepreneurial opportunities for artists on the autism spectrum.

The exhibition was focused around a collaborative installation by Leah Brown, Christian Feneck and Peter Symons. On entering the space, viewers will experience a visual immersion of color and form interacting with custom, color shifting light that gives the sensation of movement, while concealing and revealing as it shifts through the spectrum. This color-space combines narrative-driven sculptural elements with color-field painting and atmospheric lighting. This creates four distinct views of a visually confusing scene that combines elements of the organic and inorganic, the "real" and the perceived, predator and prey.

Contemporary artists Henning Haupt, Donna Haynes, Bonney Goldstein, Virginia Fifield and Jen Clay have created pieces exhibited in the front gallery around the overarching theme of perception.

An exhibition showcasing the work of 14 different artists that studies the impact of art on the artist and the viewer. The multidisciplinary exhibition, curated by Stacy Conde, gallery director of Conde Contemporary, opened Thursday, September 28.

Visual Therapy examined the psychological motivations of the artists and the response their work evokes in the viewer. Through video installations, photorealistic, academic and expressionistic portraiture, conceptual art, surrealism, photography and performance art, visitors will have a direct view into the mind of the artistic creators. Artists featured in the exhibition include Anthony Ardavin, Julio Figeroa Beltran, Patricio Gonzalez Bezanilla, Bill Bilowit, Andres Conde, Luis Enrique Toledo Del Rio, Agnes Grochulska, Natasha Kertes, Marylin Loddi, Reynier Llanes Marquez, Darian Rodriguez Mederos, Raiman Rodriguez Moya, Luis Rodriguez Noa and Enrique Toledo.
